Pieter Nachtergaele is passionate about education and research with a focus on using renewable resources in the chemical and packaging industries. His research is focussed on applying process systems engineering tools (Industry 4.0, simulation, life cycle sustainability assessment) to advance the transition to a bio-based and circular economy. At Ghent University, he teaches about assessing and improving the sustainability of technological operations, food systems and packaging recycling. His mission as EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassador is to have a positive impact by educating and motivating youth and policy-makers to care and act about the switch to a sustainable bioeconomy!
